http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0021394/

This film is in the Public Domain.

Uncle Claude comes to the Ardmore Beach Hotel to see Tommy and his wife. At the hotel, with his two granddaughters Ruth and Sally, Uncle Claude meets a wise talking employee named Letty which causes him to leave the Hotel. When he finds Tommy, he mistakes Grace for his wife and likes her and the way she keeps a clean house. To get a big check from Uncle Claude and to see how life is with the other, the two couples switch spouses for a week.

Director: Lloyd Bacon
Writers: De Leon Anthony (titles), Arthur Caesar (dialogue)
Stars: Charlotte Greenwood, Claude Gillingwater and Grant Withers

I have checked the US Copyright Database and it was never renewed. This is a Warner Brothers Film. Sometimes they forget to renew the Copyright on precode films. It is a hilarious film about 'Wife Swapping' and I will upload it later.

Thanks!

Ellen

It's not public domain, as the copyright was renewed in 1956:

SO LONG, LETTY a photoplay in six
reels by Warner Bros. Pictures,
© 4 Nov29; L82O. Associated
Artists Productions Corp. (PWH);
21Dec56; R182908.
(1956 Catalog of Copyright Entries Parts 12-13, page 125)

The online database only contains renewals filed in 1978 or later. For renewals involving all pre-1950 films and some 1950 films, you need to check the bi-yearly Catalog of Copyright Entries (available here in yearly compilations).

I do check the full catalog and have all the entries bookmarked in my browser. I just missed it! BTW One Eyed Jacks is NOT PD. Tried to Post and Warner Chapel who had one piece of music they owned in the film and basically forced me to take it down. I used my own print and some people loved the film. His production company renewed the copyright in the late 70's or early eighties. It should be pulled so others do not encounter Warner Chapel and get harassed! They are really nasty.

Thanks,

Ellen
